Prerequisites:

None, although any level of Communication course would benefit your understanding.

Overview:

BASK 101 is a collection of projects that I created during my undergraduate degree. The nine selections include a zine, four videos, one game, one media journal, & two papers.

Statement of course & seminar values:

BASK is ultimately a gift to myself, but I hope, consequently, to others, in a society that pressures us to accelerate instead of slow down, a personal foreign phenomenon. BASK is a reminder that I not only completed this long 8-year undergraduate journey, but I ended up enjoying it in the end; what is typically a chapter for others was a book for me.

Like that scene in a movie when your friend is asking you "You comin'?" And you say "You guys go ahead. I'll catch up with you," or the final walk through your empty childhood room where you spent over 10 years of your life, or the end credits rolling after a movie – sometimes with photos and videos popping up, showing the behind-the-scenes of the final product, I invite you to stay at the exit with me.

Course Schedule

Section 1 - Media Literacy, Global News

Section 2 - Technology, Internet

Section 3 - Racial Consciousness, Social Constructs

Seminar Expectations

Participation via website, social media comments, direct messages, & e-mail is welcome! Though I only hold a Bachelor's degree in Communication & Psychology, I am deeply passionate about freedom and autonomy. Those concepts alongside developing technology & other dire issues in 2025 onwards are evermore important and I welcome conversation around these topics, so head on over to office hours if curiosity leads you.

An electronic device with Internet connection.

We hate CHAT GPT in this house. All of these projects were produced by my big brain. It's a skill issue.
