CMNS_452_HOMECOMING_A_ZINE_ON_MY_RACIAL_CONSCIOUSNESS

This project was originally created for April 2024 and was slightly edited for publishing February 2025.

My chosen final project for a class on Race and the Media was a zine exploring the intersections of my identity; race, class, gender, and sexuality in a storytelling form.

The zine is (very) personal and this is the statement of purpose as written behind the front cover:

"I was inspired to create this zine by a previous class I took on colonialism and identity and the ongoing genocide in Palestine, which both have kickstarted my journey into understanding positionality through exploring my identity more intimately. This zine focuses on the following theories and concepts: racial consciousness, class consciousness, double consciousness, gender, sexuality, white fragility, & temporal liminality."

This zine is only available at the following locations:

VANCOUVER, CANADA
Spartacus Books ($)
Douglas College Library (Free)

HAMBURG, GERMANY
Raum für Illustration (Free)

If you would like to add this zine to a library, please e-mail [email protected] :) Thank you!
